May 7, 2011: National Guild Awards
Kaysie G., 14 won the Advanced Bach medal, given by the National Guild of Piano Teachers. To win it, a student must perform fifteen J. S. Bach selections from memory in the National Piano Playing Auditions. Twelve of the fifteen selections must be listed in the Irl Allison Library of Guild Repertoire series. Students must also demonstrate technical proficiency.
Halie G., 11, won the Early Bach Medal. Again, a student must perform fifteen Bach selections from memory, at least twelve of them from the Irl Allison Library. Whie the selections are a bit easier than the ones for the advanced medal, the Early Bach is still a remarkable honor and a high achievement for a third year student.
Other students earned International Gold Certificates.
